I am a first-generation immigrant from Korea, raised in a family where food was an expression of love and care. My grandmother cooked in the royal palace of the Joseon dynasty. My mother was a chef in Korea. From them, I inherited more than recipes — I inherited reverence for seasonal ingredients, patience in preparation, and the belief that food nurtures both body and heart.

I grew up eating what the seasons offered — fresh vegetables, ripe fruits, wholesome grains, thoughtfully prepared fish and meats. Food was never about luxury. It was about balance, health, and gathering around a table together.
When I came to America, I realized that fresh, nourishing food was often treated as a privilege.
At my café, I believe it is a basic joy.
Healthy food can be comforting. Simple food can be beautiful. And everyone deserves a warm, nourishing meal made with care.
